Once you have
successfully registered to use Trial Wire, log in and click on the start button
to access the configuration page. Prior to using Trial Wire you need to take a
moment to ensure Trial Wire is configured to your needs. There are a number of
settings that need to be entered depending on what function you wish to perform
on the data. The configuration file can be
saved so you do not need to re-enter this information prior to each use. You
can, of course, change the configuration options if you want.
Configuring Trial Wire
1. Select Transfer Type
FTPS Server Configuration: Files are transferred to the specified FTP server Enter the host and port
details and the destination directory on the server side. Note that the Username
and Password information required to connect to the FTP site is not stored
centrally and needs to be entered prior to the actual transfer taking place. It
will need to be re-entered prior to each transfer. Please contact your IT
administrator to obtain FTP host and port details.
Local Configuration: Files can be moved to another directory on the same computer You can use Trial Wire for
organizing or de-identifying files that you want to keep on the same computer,
write onto your file server or send to a removable device like a USB stick. If you select the local transfer option, a
local destination directory can be selected, e.g. c:\data for Windows users. The specified directory will be created if it
does not exist (but the drive letter must be valid on that machine).
2. DICOM Header De-identification
Select the options you want to
be reflected in the transferred DICOM data. The following fields in the DICOM
header can be automatically set to “de-identified” or manually edited to take
any value: The Patient’s Date of Birth can be set to: - Remove all day/month/year
information by changing to a fixed value 01011901
- Remove day/month information
but retain year, e.g. 0101YYYY
As an option you can also
choose to bulk de-identify a number of other fields that may contain
identifying information. A list of modified fields will
be displayed prior to transfer.
3. Select File Structure in Destination Directory
There are three file structure
options Option One - Impose structure Subject/Study/Series: The directory structure is
derived from DICOM headers such that the directory structure below the
target location is -/-/-. The Subject directory name is
generated from the combination of the Patient ID and Patient Name DICOM
tags. The values used are those after de-identification. For example, if the
Patient ID is 1234 and the Patient Name is John Smith, and if Trial Wire is
configured to set Patient Name to "De-identified" and to leave
Patient ID the same, then the Subject directory name will be 1234-DE-IDENTIFIED.
Option Two - Flat directory
with DICOMDIR: All files are written to the
target location, without any directory structure being created; the files are
renamed such that they have unique 8-character filenames (A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and _
are acceptable characters) and a DICOMDIR file is created to describe them.
Option Three- Mirror the
original structure: The directory structure below
the target location will be the same as the directory structure below the
source location (directory trees that do not contain any DICOM files will not
be replicated). Before using this option you should check that the original
structure doesn't contain any patient identifiable information in the directory
names, as, this option does not perform any de-identification on the directory
names.
4. Save ConfigurationThe configuration task is now
complete, to save these configuration settings click on the “save”
button. You can also press "Save and continue" to start
transfer of your data.
