Hello IXICO,
I am working on the kiss principle, and thought it might be great to have the documentation for using trial wire start with a user guide/HowTo for setting up the "basic browser" environment up front. The goal is to "qualify" the sites' capabilities for downstream utilization of Trial Wire to minimize tech support inquiries, and minimize confusion of the Trial Wire environment with that of the "host" environment.
The two areas that I have noticed are java (currently handled by directing traffic to Sun, thus dependency on Sun to maintain correct information for java activation), and whether or not ActiveX is enabled.
In the event (rare) that Java is not installed the Sun documentation provides an installation instruction that may be beyond the end user's ability/responsibility:
From SUN
"It is recommended, before you proceed with online installation you may want to disable your Internet Firewall. In some cases the default Firewall settings are set to reject all automatic or online installations such as Java online installation that you intend to perform currently. Also, if Firewall is not configured appropriately it may stall the download/install operation of Java under certain conditions. Please, refer to your specific Internet Firewall manual for instructions on how to disable your Internet Firewall."
My experience with End Users is they range from the very knowledgeable to the "hands-off". The latter (in a hospital setting) is usually not allowed to modify the web environment, unless sanctioned/or enabled by the IT Staff.
Just a thought...Thanks for reading.
Warm Regards,
Declan
